Inky Friends Magnet

I found these wooden magnets at Ikea - love that store. Using Black Stazon and the Simple Bet stamp set, I stamped my Team Name, Inky Friends, on the magnets. Then I used Mustard Stazon to color in the wings and lightly sponged with Cactus Green Stazon.

Shhh! Don't tell my downline but I mailed one of these to each of them today!

Today's Abundance
-Scrumptious leftovers.
-Panera's Hazelnut Coffee.
-Sale's galore!
-Play time.

A Collection of Merry Wishes

We certainly have had our fair share of snow in Minnesota these last few days. It snowed all day Sunday, then again on Tuesday, Christmas Day, and this morning it was snowing again. It has let up for the moment but the skies are grey and cloudy and more of the white stuff is in the forecast. All in all, it is much better than last year's brown Christmas!!

And here's one last look at Christmas Crafts...from left to right:

-Another Stamped Candle using the Santa form the Tis The Season set.
-Comp book covered with Merry Wishes Papers and Monogram.
-A bag and tags made with my new Cricut eXpressions machine. Inside is chocolate candy wrapped in Merry Wishes paper.
-A Christmas Card - Merry Wishes Paper and the new Cricut eXpressions machine.
-Gift Tags using the Tis The Season set.

My Christmas Cards were mailed today. A bit late (but certainly not as late as last year!). So now it's time to put the Christmas stamps back on the shelf and start playing with the new papers and stamps from The Angel Company!!

Today's Abundance
-Friends and family far and near.
-Airlines that deliver family safe and sound (despite being delayed by snow)
-Snow, especially the white, light, fluffy kind of snow.
-The quiet after the hustle and bustle.
-The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd look through the new Angel Company Catalog.

Simply Christmas Candle

Here's another stamped candle that I made using the Simply Christmas stamp set from The Angel Company. Notice that the reindeer is reversed! It's the same stamp - I just flipped the image.

Here's how I was taught to stamp candles from none other than Missy Olson.

Supplies Needed

1. Candle, white or ivory work best

2. Heat Gun

3. Tissue Paper

4. Dye Ink

5. Wax Paper

6. Markers

1. With dye ink, stamp your image on tissue paper. Color with markers if desired.

2. Cut around the image leaving a bit of tissue paper around the edges of the image.

3. Place the tissue paper on the candle.

4. Take wax paper and place over the image and around the back of the candle twisting it in the back so you have a firm grip for the next step. Be sure the wax paper is smoothed out over the image.

5. Apply heat to the image with the heat gun. You will be melting the candle wax slightly so that the tissue paper adheres once it is cools.

6. Take the wax paper off and cool.

Some Tips

1. Plan on practicing.

2. Apply one image at a time. At least I found that applying multiple images at the same time was difficult to maneuver with the heat gun and wax paper.

3. If the candle wax starts to run, you're applying too much heat.

4. If you have an image with words, be extra careful to place the image the right way on the candle - i.e. you don't want the words backwards.

5. Some images, like the reindeer, will lend themselves to being placed either way on the candle.

6. Have lots of fun......

Today's Abundance

Oct 21, 2007

It's been awhile since I've updated the blog. I've been here, there, and everywhere over the last few weeks!!

I've been to a quilting retreat - my other passion!! The weekend was full of lots of quilting, good food, good friends, and fantastsic weather. And, of course, it went by much too fast for all of us.

I and a group of demonstrators from The Angel Company had a booth at the Des Moines MWSA. We had a great turnout. Our Little Penguin Tote Tag was a hit with everyone (see the September 30 blog entry).

And then it is on to the Craft Fairs. Two of the stamped items I made are featured here. The Flower Jumbo Clips use a variety of our papers - Bella Flor is primarily featured in this picture. Add a button, scrappers floss, and ribbon for unique bookmarks.

And I had a fantastic time making stamped candles. I first learned how to stamp on candles from Missy O. at the Angelette gathering in St. Cloud a couple of years ago. Thanks Missy!! These candles feature the snowman from the Snowmen Nativity stamp set and the "Let It Snow" greeting is from Tis The Season.

Today's Abundance List
-My best friend who is also my sister
-Fall colors
-My new job
-Quilt retreats
-A very long nap
-Stamping magazines that provide me lots of inspirations

Flower Collage Trio

What a way to start off a Saturday: a good nights sleep, hazelnut coffee, toasted bread with a bit of peanut butter, and playing with my stamps!! Can life get any better?

The Flower Collage Trio stamp set from The Angel Company is another favorite. (I'd never be able to choose just one favorite by any means!!) Walnut inks, embossing, and pink and black make this a simple yet elegant card. The saying is from The Angel Company's Be Authentic greeting set.

Cyber hugs to all of you - enjoy your Saturday as much as I am!!

Sep 2, 2007

The long to-do list for this long weekend is a bit shorter than it was on Friday evening! The leaky shower head has been replaced by a new one. Yeah me!! The craft room, which I'm constantly reorganizing, is once again chaotic while I put in a new shelf, combine supply boxes, and also index and cut up some of those new stamps.

The craft sale supplies that I've been accumulating last few months are now out and are waiting to turned into gifts for a special recipient that I will never meet!

And if stamping and scrapping doesn't keep me busy enough I'm also getting ready for a quilt retreat in a few weeks. My sister and I went fabric shopping today and, of course, found much more than what was on our lists. I'm sure that only happens to us!

This card is made from the Heart-itude stamp set. The flowers that are wrapped with the red ribbon are adhered with foam tape.

Happy Stamping and Scrapping,

My Other Passion - Quilting

In addition to stamping and scrapbooking, I love to quilt. Here is a queen size quilt that I recently pieced and quilted. It will be raffled off in conjunction with our United Way Drive at work. All tickets sales go directly to local United Way agencies. The raffle has raised between $2,000 and $2,500 every year for the past 5 years.

For those of you who are quilters, the pattern is the Yellow Brick Road. I have used this pattern for baby quilts, guy quilts, and now this queen size quilt. The earth tones are lovely. And, other than the border and binding, the entire quilt is from scraps!! (Gee - now I have more room for stamping and scrapping stuff!!)

Have a great day...

Mini Clipboard

I made this mini clipboard earlier this year for one of TAC's contests. I love this set - Creative Genius. I used the stamper/scrapbooker for this project. The stamp set also has a knitter, a potter, and a painter.
I paper pieced the clothes, shoes, and the supply box on the table. Aquacrayons and a blender pen were used to finish the reaminder of the image. Would you believe I made 3 of these before I decided I had completely gone off the deep end!!

6x6 Scrapbook Page

Swirly Gigs, HeSaidSheSaid, Rustic Chic paper, Scrappers Floss, and Stippling were used for this 6x6 Scrapbook Page.

The corner triangle piece of Rustic Chic paper is actually a pocket for the tag. You'll find that I use scrappers floss a lot - and this tag is just one more creative use for it.

Any guesses as to who the baby and the teenage girl are? They are one in the same - my daughter Angi!

August Card Kit

I've been busy today cutting out new stamps, labeling them, and trying to get the craft room organized once again. The later is a never ending challenge! And then I ran across the Tickled Pink Stamp Set and knew right away that was the stamp set for the August Card Kit.

Do you remember the Pink Flamingo Lawn Ornaments (or maybe you still have some.)

They are so tacky yet so cool!

Here's some trivia:

The first atomic-pink molded plastic lawn flamingo went on sale in 1957. It was an immediate success; in the next decade, Americans bought millions of them. But by the 1970s, lawn flamingos were gathering dust on the hardware store shelves. In 1983, the New York Times ran an article title "Where Did All Those (Plastic) Flamingos Go?" Suddenly, lawn flamingos were flying again. 1985 was a record year, with 450,000 sold in the United States.!

Some people actually travel with their pink flamingos! The plastic birds go camping, hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. Entire web sites are devoted to the travels of these artificial creatures. And to think we just stamp with them!!

The August Card Kit is ready. It features the adorable Tickled Pink Stamp Set - 4 very adorable flamingos and 6 delightful sayings.

The kit is $19.99 which includes the stamp set, the cardstock, the patterned paper, and the embellishments. (Shipping and tax included.) Just send me an email to order.

Happy Stamping and Scrapping.

Fun with Mimi

After sleeping in on a rainy Saturday morning, the need for my paper fix kicked in! Here's a Thank You card made from The Angel Company's Mimi Collection and the Be Authentic Stamp Set.
And what about this? I cut the flower and leaves from the paper and will add it to the inside of the card! Just call me crazy! That, or the caffeine is starting to kick in.

Simply Christmas and Amelia

I've been playing with our new stamps and papers. This card uses the Simply Christmas Stamp Set and our new Amelia Papers and coordinating cardstock, embellishments, and ribbons. The reindeer and greeting are embossed. And using the crop-a-dile, that we now carry, made setting those 4 eyelets a breeze!

I've Been Published

I got a surprise envelope in my mail today. It was one of those plain brown envelopes. To my surprise when I opened it up I found a copy of Simply Sentiments (Volume 4, Issue 2) inside plus a card that I had submitted for submission many, many months ago.

The issue was from the spring sometime as it had Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Graduation Card as it main themes. (Today is August 1!!) Yes, they sent the complimentary copy out a bit late. I had let my subscription to the magazine lapse so this was the first time that I had seen the magazine.

The morale of the story is to never give up hope of seeing a submission in print!!

Tenzig, The Pug

I am dog sitting for my daughter and son-in-law while they are vacationing in Alaska. They love the outdoors and will be spending much of the next week camping, hiking, and taking in the sites of the Kenai Peninsula, Anchorage, and Denali. This is their second trip there!!

And while they are gone I am dog sitting Tenzig, their Pug. When Tenzig was added to their family, he was the inspiration behind this card. The Angel Company's Cuddle Pug Stamp is perfect for any pug owner or lover! It was published in Simply Sentiments - my first card ever published.

Make N Take - Gift Card Holder

The Angel Company Team Members from the Inky Friends and Cross Country Angels hosted a booth at the St. Paul Stamping and Scrapping Expo at the State Fair Grounds the weekend of May 19 and 20.

Over 300 stampers and scrappers stopped at the booth for our free Make N Take, a Gift Card Holder.

Saturday was hot and humid; nevertheless we had a good time introducing people to The Angel Company. Sunday was a lot cooler and we continued to have a steady stream of people visiting the booth. Our catalogs and scrappers floss were the biggest hits of the day!
